Catching up with friends

Between leaving Wales and leaving England, we have spent some time with friends.

Our first stop was in Cheshire to stay with Mike & Carol whom we met in Nepal in 2023.

We had a lovely time chatting, sitting in the sun, exploring their local town and just generally hanging out for a couple of days/nights. Mike even went to the effort to get some Gurkha beer for our visit-this was the beer of choice in Nepal.

It was so lovely to see them again and we look forward to future in-person catch-ups. It’s great to have people who come into your life, you just hit it off straight away and several years later you pick up conversation as if you’d seen each other last Tuesday.

From Cheshire we drove to Bath to have lunch at a restaurant belonging to someone we met last year in Botswana. Hearing the passion she has for cooking her family recipes in her restaurant, and knowing how much love Vietnamese food, we were determined to eat there this year.

We both enjoyed our lunch!

Our next stay was with Dave and Julie near Salisbury. Kevin and Dave met on the day they both joined the army at age 16.

Again we’ve just hung out, walked the dogs, watched some tennis, did some and talked knitting, went out for a delicious Indian meal and caught up. We were excited to “wet the baby’s head” with their first grandchild arriving whilst were there.

We met with some of Kevin’s army friends in a pub just down the road from Dave & Julies’s house. Kevin enjoyed seeing them again.

On the Sunday we drove to a cute village for lunch with Kevin’s cousin Ali, her daughter Jade and husband Jack. Kevin and Ali tried piecing together a family tree of sorts. Food and company were both excellent.

We joined Caroline and Alex, and their husbands for a BBQ at Caroline’s house near Battle.

We met Caroline and Alex in Nepal too when we met Mike & Carol.

Again it was a lovely afternoon and evening enjoying the breeze outside after a really hot day!
